The Mela Campanina variety is one of the six ancient apple species of the Emilia-Romagna region. It is believed to originate from Modena due to its ancient name, “Pomo di Modena” (Modena apple).
Originally grown only in the provinces of Modena, Reggio Emilia, Mantua, and Ferrara, it began to disappear at the end of the last century, replaced by more commercial varieties.
It was historically part of the tradition thanks to the apple "mostarda" or its use in mixed jam, today it is protected by a trademark and reintroduced to the market in the form of an innovative processed product: the cold-pressed apple pulp, which enhances the apple's excellent nutritional properties.
The characteristics that make these small apples unique are their ability to keep for a long time while maintaining their fragrance intact and their very high antioxidant content.
