Concordia sulla Secchia deve le sue origini alla presenza di un antico nucleo di mulini galleggianti nell’alveo del fiume Secchia che ne ha caratterizzato per quasi cinque secoli la storia sotto il profilo sociale, economico e politico. Questo importante ed originale patrimonio storico è stato recuperato attraverso la valorizzazione ambientale e culturale della tradizione molitoria; si segnalano, al riguardo, la “passeggiata dei mulini” sull’argine del fiume Secchia e diverse ricerche ed iniziative culturali.

Il patrimonio monumentale e storico di Concordia sulla Secchia, come le chiese, il Teatro del Popolo e il Palazzo Municipale costruito dalla famiglia Corbelli nel 1600 e divenuto sede del Comune nel 1860 sono stati gravemente danneggiati a causa del sisma che nel maggio 2012 ha colpito l’Emilia.
Il centro storico merita ugualmente di essere visitato per la sua conformazione particolare caratterizzata dal lungo portico di via della Pace che fiancheggia l’argine del Secchia e attraversa la parte più antica di Concordia da cui si possono scorgere anche i lavori alle piazze che restituiranno a nuova vita questa comunità.

This important and unique historical heritage has been restored through the environmental and cultural enhancement of the milling tradition. Noteworthy examples include the “mill walk” on the banks of the Secchia River and various research projects and cultural initiatives.

The monumental and historical heritage of Concordia sulla Secchia, such as its churches, the Teatro del Popolo theater, and the Town Hall built by the Corbelli family in 1600 and which became the seat of the municipality in 1860, were severely damaged by the earthquake that struck Emilia in May 2012.
The historic center is also worth visiting for its unique layout, characterized by the long portico of Via della Pace, which runs alongside the Secchia riverbank and crosses the oldest part of Concordia, from where you can also see the work being done on the squares that will breathe new life into this community.
